Ida Rohrer

A Celebration of Life Service, for Ida Rohrer, 74 of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Criss- Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Wally McLaughlin and Pastor Kevin McElwain officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Ida was born in Riffle, WV, on December 13, 1937, to the late Arlos Jay and Ida Avis (Lewis) McElwain. She passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center on August 14, 2012.

Ida graduated from Marietta High School in 1955 and attended Bliss Business College. She worked for Diebold Incorporated for over 20 years, seven years for the Longaberger Company and three years for Bon Worth.

Ida was a person devoted to Lionism, with over 46 years of service, having perfect attendance for 29 years. She truly enjoyed helping the community and doing The Lions International work.

She joined the Heath Lions Auxiliary in 1966, with 11 years of service; was a charter member of the Heath Lioness Club in 1977, with 15 years of service, where she served as a Vice President, Lioness Tamer and Tail Twister; joined the Heath Lions Club in 1992, with three years of service, where she was on the Board of Directors and was editor of the club newsletter; was a charter member in 1994 with the Moundbuilders Lions Club, serving as secretary; and in 2004 to present, was a member of the Millersport Lions Club, where she had served as Tail Twister.

Ida attended 35 District Conventions, 32 State Conventions, 11 International Conventions and 15 United States/Canadian Forums. One of the highest awards bestowed to a Lion, is the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, which was presented to Ida in 1999.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry Lee and Krista Rohrer of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughter and fiancé, Tricia Rohrer and Ian Cole of Fort Wayne; grandson, Brady Rohrer of Fort Wayne; brother, Carl McElwain of Newark; two nephews, Brian and Kevin McElwain; and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Jean McElwain.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ida to The Millersport Lions Club, 2900 Chautauqua Blvd., Millersport, Ohio 43046.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a Lions Service scheduled for 8 p.m. Friends may also call on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
