Jack E. Thompson
Jack E. Thompson, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, age 78, of Thornville, passed away August 7, 2012 after a tough battle with lung cancer.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jean (Mullen) Thompson; sisters, Dorothy and Lilly; and brothers, Jimmy and Dean. He is survived by his children, Bev Purdy (Mark Bryan), Jack (Cynthia) Thompson, David (Sherri) Thompson, Tommy (Cyndee) Thompson and Rena Kerekes (Steve Schull); 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesse, Donny and Louie “Lumpy”; brother-inlaw, David (Jenny) Mullen; and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jack had a strong work ethic. He worked tirelessly as a truck driver, welder, diesel mechanic and construction worker. He was a member of AMVETS #0051 in Thornville and the Eagles #2801 in Buckeye Lake. He loved to dance! He will be forever remembered for his huge heart and above all, his love for his family. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012, and 12-1 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2012 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Jack and Betty Thompson.
