Plenty of corn will be available for Sweet Corn Festival

Editor:

This record heat wave and drought that has had Ohio in its grip all summer has generated ridicule rumors that there will be NO corn at this year’s Sweet Corn Festival. Times may be tough but the American Farmer always delivers. So the Millersport Lions Club wants to set the record straight that we will be serving plenty of hot, buttered, Ohio grown, corn on the cob, August 29 thru September 1 in bustling Millersport.

Once you and your family have consumed your fill of those delicious golden kernels, take a few minutes to peek around the corn of the famous corn booth to gaze upon the newly restored 1948 General Machinery Corp. Corn Husker. Thanks to the generosity, foresight and skills of the owners and employees of Star Engineering of New Lexington this historic icon has been rebuilt to its former glory. To make sure it keeps operating for another 64 years, Top Cat Concrete of Buckeye Lake donated all of the concrete used in the construction of its new foundation at Historic Lions Park.

So help us spread the word that there will be lots of corn at the 66th Sweet Corn Festival and it won’t cost a dime more than it did last year for a hot buttered ear of corn. Come see why we are ear-resistible!

Ron Keller, General Chairman Sweet Corn Festival, Inc.
