Teacher thanks The Works

Editor:

I want to thank all the staff at The Works for hosting such a wonderful, educational, week long externship experience for me.

When I began my externship with The Works, I didn’t realize how much The Works had to offer. The Works philosophy is kids learn through doing, and through my observation and participation I learned that’s exactly how they run The Works.

There are fantastic hands-on activity labs, interesting science experiments, an amazing glass blowing studio with live demonstrations, a beautiful art gallery, and educational history exhibits. Furthermore, there are fun classes, camps, and activities for visitors of all ages.

In addition, The Works offers gear boxes for teachers full of information to assist in teaching lessons, and they also offer distant learning programs with the help of video conference technology. The Works even offers mobile outreach programs in science full of activities aligned with the State Content Standards for grades K-8 that can be presented in schools.

The Works is a hidden gem. All educators, parents, children, and community members should be taking advantage of all the educational activities The Works has to offer. This was an amazing, educational externship experience!

Community members should consider volunteering their time at the Works. There is always something educational going on, and so much to learn at The Works!
