Harold Alfred Yost

Harold Alfred Yost, 93, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2012, in the presence of family and caregivers. Alfred (al) was born December 2, 1918 in West Rushville, to Russell and Martha (Harman) Yost.

A graduate of Thornville High School, Class of 1937, Al immediately went into the US Army, and saw service in the infantry during WWII. He retired from the US Postal Service in Columbus in 1967 and lived most of his life in Baltimore.

Al was very social and made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed camping, playing card and board games with friends and at family gatherings. Al was a hobbyist with many talents and interests and an avid Browns and Buckeyes fan.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Max; sister, Virginia; and his wife of 64 years, Nora Yost. He is survived by sister-in-law, Helen Myers, of Columbus; daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Chapman, Lancaster, Sandy Yates, Baltimore, Shirley Yost, Bremen and son Kenneth (Leah Ann) Yost, Columbus; six grandchildren, Brian, Jamie, Stacy, Megan, Kevin and Eric; and seven great-grandchildren Zachary, Whitney, Kyle, Kaleb, Alex, Isaac and Grace.
