Evelyn L. Stevenson
Evelyn L. Stevenson returned Home to be with our Savior, on May 29 2012, in her home in Baltimore. She was born Sept. 6, 1918, to Greenvill Jordan and Helen Smith Jordan in Columbus. She was a graduate of South High School, Class of 1932. Evelyn was a member of the Christ Methodist Church in Baltimore, and was instrumental in starting chair volleyball for senior citizen’s in Baltimore. She worked at DCSC until she retired in 1968. She was a member of Eastern Star, Parthenia Chapter #124 and Wimodausis.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Barbara (David) DeLong of Baltimore; five grandchildren, Diana (Stephen) Pickett of Baltimore, Melanie (Charles) Backus of Pataskala, Jennifer Langham (Mitchell) of Baltimore, Emery DeLong of Pataskala, and Desiree Collins of San Diego; eight great-grandchildren, Zierra and Eric Langham, Rachel Pickett, Autumn and Angellica Mitchell, Isabelle and Danielle Backus, and Sid Collins; Her beloved brother, Morris Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Scott Stevenson; parents;and great-granddaughter, Alina Pickett. Funeral service was June 2, 2012, at Christ Methodist Church, Baltimore, with Rev. Jill Dunlap officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
