Robert J. Novak Sr.
A funeral mass for Robert John Novak, Sr., 79, of Granville, was held May 30, 2012, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Granville, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Burial with full military honors followed at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.
Bob died May 24, 2012, in Westerville, following an extended illness. He was born in Cleveland, on December 22, 1932, the son of the late Frank and Theresa (Lewandowski) Novak.
He served honorably in the US Army, during the Korean Conflict; and had worked for 30 years at Newark Air Force Base and had served as local president of the union and then as the district #6 representative for the AFL-CIO. He retired in 1992.
He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Danville.
He is survived by his son, Robert J Novak, Jr. of Granville; his grandchildren, Ashley Walsh, Robert Zachary Novak and Austin Robert Novak; his sister, Delrita Urda of Colorado, his brother, Donald (Marcia) Novak of Jamestown, Pa.; and his nieces and nephews, Jack, Patricia, David, Paul, Donald, Terry, Michael, Michelle, James, Thomas, JoAnna, Barbara and Sherry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Novak on April 1, 2008; his brother, Frank; and his sister, Mary.
