Jerry D. Oldaker

A memorial service for Jerry D. Oldaker, 72, of Newark, was held March 28, 2012, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, Newark, with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Jerry passed away March 22, 2012, at his residence. He was born January 16, 1940, in Licking County, to the late Trafford and Gladys (Price) Oldaker.

Jerry and Joyce owned and operated The Grooming Room for 18 years in Hebron. He served honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Cristobal Harbor Defense Unit, Coco Solo Naval Station, Coco Solito, Balboa Harbor Defense Unit, Panama, and served aboard his beloved tugboat USS Nahoke YTB 536. He was a member of the American Legion, National Hot Rod Association, Columbus Collie Club Inc. where he trained and showed many notable Collies earning many National Honors and Awards, and founding member of the National Corvette Museum. He was an accomplished contributor to several National publications about his service and disability, and he liked political history.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce C. (Glenn) Oldaker; step-son, Daniel (Melissa) Huff of Hebron; sister, Jane Ann Crawford of Woodberry, TN; grandchildren, Brandon, Alanna, Cody and Ashley; great-grandson, Braden; niece, Kathy (Chris) Wolfe of TN; one great-nephew; and two great nieces.
