Developmental Disabilities levy supported

Editor:

I’m writing to ask voters to support the Developmental Disabilities Renewal Levy. Being a renewal levy, your taxes will not increase. In fact, voters have not been asked to approve additional mills for Licking County Board of DD services since 1987.

Renewing this levy will continue the much needed services provided to more than 1,400 children and adults in our community.

Our family has received many of these services for more than 20 years, so I can attest that our family’s life would have been very different and much more difficult without them. The Dept. of DD does much to help our disabled citizens lead productive and fulfilling lives. Services include: early intervention for infants and toddlers, services for school-age children and teens, help with obtaining employment, adult job training and job coaching, transportation, housing, and much more. Our family has personally witnessed and worked with many of the department’s employees who are very dedicated to their jobs and to serving their clients.

Passing this levy is a win-win situation for all. Remember “Renewal Levy” means that no one’s taxes will be raised and much needed services will continue for some very deserving and special folks!
