BLACA wants you; help them help you
BUCKEYE LAKE – The Buckeye Lake Civic Association, or BLACA, had a great 2011 and encourages more lake area residents to become members as 2012 looks to be just as great as last year or greater.
BLACA accomplished much for 2011, including purchasing 32 tons of sand for Crystal Beach, providing $3,376 to purchase gravel and flowers for local parks, and BLACA donated $500 each to the Buckeye Lake Historical Society and the Buckeye Lake Community Christmas celebration.
In addition, BLACA gave $250 to each of three students for being awarded the Student Excellence in Citizenship. BLACA donated money to help four fire stations with their Christmas programs and BLACA helped support the Hebron New Life UMC baby pantry. BLACA donated to BLASST to help make Independence Day fireworks a reality and BLACA donated $5,000 to Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow, a new organization looking out for the lake’s future.
Currently, BLACA is meeting the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to discuss a new dam, the Sellers Point Project, and the overall quality and cleanliness of Buckeye Lake’s water.
There’s a lot to look forward to this year, such as the popular reverse raffle May 10, featuring good food and good fun, and the August 12 Tour of Homes, which promotes the lake area and is a major BLACA fundraiser. Other events are listed in BLACA’s newsletter. Don’t be left out of BLACA’s accomplishments and fun activities – please join! Membership is $10 per family. Please mail checks written to BLACA to PO BOX 1106, Buckeye Lake, Ohio, 43008 or contact us via email at email@example.com. Membership forms are available at www.buckeyelakecivic.org,
