Gary L. Martin
A funeral service for Gary L. Martin was held February 4, 2012, at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home in Newark.
Mr. Martin died unexpectedly, Saturday, January 28, 2012, at his home. He was born November 29, 1947, in Canton, a son of the late William Virgil Martin and Phyllis (Thompson) Martin of Canton. A Vietnam Era veteran of the US Navy, he had worked 41 years with A.E.P. Mr. Martin worked as an operations coordinator in the transmission division in Columbus after working in Heath and Canton. He was a member of the Moose and AMVETS in Thornport; the American Legion in Thornville and previously Crusader’s Lodge F.&A.M. in Heath. He was a Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his beloved wife, Linda K. (Cross) Martin, whom he married March 12, 1966; his children, Tammy Gast of Newark and Daniel (Tanya) Martin of Cardington; two granddaughters; his sisters, Pam (Vern) Fowler of Massillon, Nancy Martin of Canton, and Mary Lou May of Canton; brothers, Bill (Kathy) Martin of N. Canton and David Martin of Oklahoma; an aunt, Beverly Thornburg of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A brother, Virgil Duane Martin, preceded him in death in addition to his father.
