Robert Lee Williams
Robert Lee Williams, 84, of Glenford, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 21, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Bob was born March 26, 1927, near Somerset, to the late John and Louise (Bussey) Williams.
Bob graduated from Glenford High School and proudly served his country in the Army during World War II in Germany. He was retired from his beloved profession of dairy and beef farming. Bob was a faithful and active member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where he and Betty have both attended all their lives. He was a member of Glenford Lions Club and National Farmers’ Organization. Bob also served as a Hopewell Township Trustee and on the Highland Cemetery Board of Trustees.
Bob thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially supporting his grandchildren at their sporting, church, and 4-H events. He was an avid fan of the Sheridan Generals, Liberty Union Lions, and the OSU Buckeyes.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty (Denison) Williams of the home; two daughters, Carolyn (Delmer) Barr of Baltimore and Barbara (John) Ulmer of Thornville; five grandchildren, Rich (Michelle) Barr of Cape Coral, FL, Chris (Shelley) Barr of Millersport, Drs. Travis (Laura) Ulmer of San Antonio, TX, Bethany (Jason) Barrera of Thornville, and Treg Ulmer of Thornville; two great-grandchildren, Caden Barr and Brody Barrera; a sister, Dorothy (Lee) Cook of Thornville; a brother, Stanley (Betty) Williams of Zanesville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Tate Barrera; and a brother, Charles (Kathryn) Williams.
Services were held January 25, 2012, at the Hopewell United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery, Glenford.
