Three arrested in Fairfield Beach bar break-in

LANCASTER – Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office detectives have charged William L. Steele and Kevin P. Runyon of Fairfield Beach, and Zachary A. Cross of Crooksville, with one count each of breaking & entering, a felony of the fifth degree.

Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said a Walnut Township resident called at 4:25 a.m. early Tuesday morning, January 17, to report that three subjects might be breaking into Cuda Jo’s Bar in Fairfield Beach. A witness reported seeing a large object being thrown over a fence behind the business.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that the business had been broken into and the safe was missing. Deputies received a report of a suspicious vehicle on nearby Juniper Road. When they checked the area, the heard a loud banging sound coming from 13415 Juniper Rd. Deputies checked an outside camper and found the three subjects attempting to open the safe by striking it. The subjects were taken into custody. The safe and other tools were recovered from the scene.

Detectives are checking to see if another recent breaking and entering in the area is connected to these subjects. They each face up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.
