Levacy now unopposed for commissioner nomination
LANCASTER – Millersport Village Council President Dave Levacy is now unopposed for the Republican Party nomination to replace retiring Fairfield County Commissioner Judy Shupe.
His opponent in the March primary, attorney Dan Barham, announced his withdrawal from the race at a January 5 Republican Party Executive Committee meeting. The committee was meeting to make its endorsements for the March primary.
Levacy, a long-time Millersport Village Council member and former Millersport Fire Chief, will face Greenfield Township Trustee George C. Hallarn of Carroll in November. Hallarn has run unsuccessfully for county commissioner several times.
All three county commissioners are Republicans.
Levacy owns and operates Buckeye Lake Marina. He represents council members on the village’s Board of Public Affairs. Levacy is also a Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow director. The volunteer group is working to preserve and improve Buckeye Lake’s water quality.
