Buckeye Lake gets new library

BUCKEYE LAKE – A 10-year old dream came true Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to the generosity of Chet and Pat Hauck, the cont i nued suppor t of the Licking County Library Board of Trustees and staff, and the dedication of the Friends of the Buckeye Lake Library, Buckeye Lake now has a first class library.

The new library on Ohio 79 in King Plaza is three times as large as the original library on West 1st Street. It has eight Internet- connected computers compared to three before, giving adults and students easier access to the web.

“You should be very proud,” Barry Riley, President of the Licking County Library Board of Trustees said Sunday. “It’s neat to have a library next to an artist-in-residence (Ray King).”

Licking County Library Director Babette Wofter said the new library is a “ three legged stool” – built with the support of the Haucks, Licking County Library, and the local community ( Friends of the Buckeye Lake Library).

Buckeye Lake Mayor Rick Baker thanked everyone for a “great job.”

Any Ohio resident with proper identification can obtain a library card to use at the library.
