James Ray Dutcher
A funeral service, celebrating the life of James Ray Dutcher, 80, of Millersport, will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Vinson as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Millersport Cemetery.
Jim died early Monday, December 19, 2011, at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Lancaster, the son of the late Ernest Homer and Olive (Dutcher) Dutcher. He served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was retired from the US Postal Service with over 30 years of service.
An active member of the Millersport community, he was a member of the Millersport United Methodist Church, Millersport Lions Club, Alturas Lodge F. & A.M., American Legion Millersport post and Buckeye Lake VFW Post 1388.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Jean Dutcher; his son, James Douglas Dutcher; and his special friend, Dorothy Farrow.
He is survived by his sister, Fran Dutcher of Nelsonville; his nieces, Sheila Souder, Sharon Sullivan, Pamela Snyder, and Jan Meadows; two grandchildren; life long friends, Doctors Paul and Ann Whetstone; and out-of-state nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22, 2011, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main St in Kirkersville. An on-line guest register and video tribute to Jim are available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.com
