Albert L. Moyer

A funeral service for Albert L. Moyer, age 90, of Newark, was held on December 7, 2011, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson- Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Ralph Nethers officiating. Burial followed in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Mr. Moyer passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Arlington Care Center. He was born March 10, 1921, in Hebron, to the late Edgar Leroy and Anna Virginia (Wells) Moyer.

Mr. Moyer was a graduate of Hebron High School. He served with the United States Air Force, 368 FTR Group, 397 FTR Squad, in the European Theatre at Normandy.

Mr. Moyer was employed as an electrician with Owens Corning for 30 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a past member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a current member of the Newark Church of Christ. He and his first wife were members of the Owens Corning Campers Club. He enjoyed animals, never met a stranger, and loved to travel and spend time in his workshop making things.

He is survived by his wife of ten years, Martha “Martie” Agnes Hamm Moyer, whom he met through Hospice of Central Ohio after both lost their spouses; daughter, Julie (Bruce) Hill of Newark; step-children, Loretta (Timothy) Zimmerman of Granville, Teresa Miles of Newark, Charles (Pam) Hamm of Granville and Tim (Betty) Hamm of Newark; grandsons, Daniel (Sara) Hill and Jeffrey Hill; 11 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Moyer of New Jersey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Mae Moyer, in 1998; sister, Peggy Fairchild; and brothers, James “Jimmy” Moyer and Charles Moyer.
