Dorothy J. “Granny” Bannister

A funeral service for Dorothy J. “Granny” Bannister, age 84, of Jacksontown, was held on November 7, 2011, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Bob Beyer and Pastor Carol Kirk officiating. Burial took place in Fairmount Cemetery.

Mrs. Bannister passed away on November 3, 2011, at Autumn at the Lake in Thornville. She was born November 21, 1926, in Mill Creek, West Virginia, to the late Pearl and Asia (Haught) Currence.

Mrs. Bannister retired from the Lakewood School District where she had been a cook. She was a member of the Heath Church of Christ and the Jacksontown United Methodist Church. A wonderful homemaker, Mrs. Bannister enjoyed cooking and ceramics.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Randy) Shaw of Jacksontown; grandchildren, Douglas (Machel) Pearl, Deborah Pearl, Zac (Lindsay) Shaw, Gabe (Crystal) Shaw and Levi Shaw (Tabatha Graham); seven great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mearle E. Bannister in 2007; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Roger Drumm; and four brothers and four sisters.
