Doris M. Clark Martin
A funeral service, celebrating the life of Doris M. Clark Martin, 92, of Hebron, was held October 31, 2011, in the Kirkersville United Methodist Church, with Pastors Rich Rothemich and H. Jing Chow as celebrants. Burial followed in Kirkersville Cemetery.
Doris died October 26, 2011, in Newark, (on her 71st wedding anniversary) following an extended illness. She was born in Centervillage, Ohio, on July 2, 1919, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Gorsuch) Clark. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1937. An active member of the Kirkersville community, she served as secretary and bookkeeper for the H. M. Martin and Son Co. for many years. She was a member of the Kirkersville United Methodist Church, U.M.W., and was a former member of OCCL, PTA and Grange. She served as a 4-H advisor for many years, teaching many young girls to sew and crochet.
She is survived by her loving family: her son, Harold (Mary Jane) Martin of Millersport; five grandchildren, including H. Jeffrey (Christine) Martin of Hebron, Angela (James) Dorenbusch of Pataskala and Robert (Kimberly) Martin of Millersport; nine great grandchildren; her brother, Smith (Donna) Clark of Johnstown; sister in-law, Mary Louise Mowery; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Robert Martin in 1995; her daughter, Janice Martin Pletcher in 1980; and her brother, Francis Clark.
