Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Night Hike- Friday, Nov. 18, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Experience The Arboretum at night! Kids and adults are welcome to attend one of our most popular programs as we hike through collections, grasslands and woodlands. Night hikes are for individuals, couples and families. Scout troops are asked to call the Education Department for current scout-specialized programs. Free, donations welcome, meet at the Visitors Center Deck.

The grounds are open from dawn to dusk. The Vistors Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays. More more information vist www.dawes arb.org

Chicken Noodle Dinner & Bake Sale - Buckeye Lake. Enjoy a delicious chicken noodle dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. or until it’s gone on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Buckeye Lake Fire Department. Carry-out is available plus tasty baked goods. Dinner is $6 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds will help make a brighter Christmas for Buckeye Lake area families. Hosted by the Buckeye Lake Firefighters Association.

Turkey Dinner - Millersport. The Millersport United Methodist Church holds its annual Turkey Dunner on Saturday, Nov.5, starting at 4:30 and serving until 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 and children 12 under $4; carryout will be available for additional 50 cents per dinner. A bazaar and bake sale will also be available during the mealtime. Proceeds are for missions; local, state wide and world wide. Everyone is welcome.

Free ACT/SAT Combo Practice Test - Newark. Are you planning on taking the ACT or SAT? The Newark Library invites teens to take Kaplan’s free ACT/SAT combo practice test. The practice test will take place in the lower level meeting room of the Newark Library on Saturday, Nov. 5. Re- member to bring a calculator and some No. 2 pencils. We will get started at 10:00 am and will finish at approximately 1:45 pm. Please feel free to bring snacks and a beverage. Ohio’s Wildlife 200 Year Ago - Newark. Join Ohio Nature Education from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, at William C. Kraner Nature Center, for a family-oriented program as we step back in time and discover what Ohio was like upon settlement by playing a game aptly named “ Pioneer Pairs”. We’ll discover what animals made Ohio home. Live animals and pelt display. Suitable for ages 8 and up. Cost is $10 per family or $3 per individual. For more information, visit www.ohionature.org.

Which eReader Should I Get? - Newark. Buying an eReader this holiday season? Drop by the library first. Licking County Library is offering a workshop on eReaders on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 1:30 pm in the Newark Library. This workshop will include information about eBooks, eReaders and a short book downloading demonstration from the library’s website. Space is limited. Create Glass Blown Pumpkins & Gourds at The Works - Newark. The Works: Museum of History, Art and Technology invites the public to drop-in from Noon - 4 p.m and create festive glass pumpkins or gourds in the Glass Studio Saturday November 5, 12 & 19. Select pumpkin and/ or gourd colors then receive personal instruction from a professional glass artist who will help you craft a beautiful pumpkin/ gourd. This glass experience is $30 per pumpkin/gourd and a great way to experience the art of glassblowing! No appointment necessary. However, space is limited with and honored on a first come, first serve basis. Must be 9 years or older to participate. Texas Hold ’ Em Benefit Tournament - Baltimore. Join Phil Barker and the Class of 1984 as they host a benefit tournament for the Tammy K. Mowery Estate on Saturday, Nov. 12. Doors open at 6 pm. at the Baltimore VFW on Ohio 256. Play begins at 6:30 p.m. with a $40 buy-in with $20 bonus chips. Fun includes a silent auction and 50/50 drawing. Free Admission & Veterans Day Salute at The Works - Newark. The Works: Center for History, Art & Technology will host a Veterans Day Salute at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 12. Visitors will enjoy free museum admission from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Hi-Lights 2011 - Hebron. Don’t miss your chance to see the Lancer Marching Band perform all their music and dancing from their 2011 season. Two performances at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Lakewood High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $6. Call 740-928-4496.

Concert for Somali Famine Relief - Denison University, Granville. A concert to benefit Somali famine relief efforts will feature Denison University a cappella groups DUWop, Hilltoppers, Ladies Night Out and Tehillah and the Denison Blue Grass Ensemble. The concert also will showcase the talents of the Granville High School Choir and a Somali choir from Columbus. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). The concert is free and open to the public.
