Baltimore Police worth the extra cost

Editor:

I know a lot of Baltimore residents have mixed feelings about the levy that will help support our police department. All the money goes directly to our police department so we can have officers on duty full-time. Having officers on duty full time keeps the response time shorter for any emergency you may have. It also keeps our D.A.R.E./School Resource officer in our schools.

Here’s an example of why we need full-time officers. Last year a 59-year-old man moved into our community. He tried to befriend young children, so I went to our police department and expressed my concerns. An investigation was started immediately and thank God it was! Due to the police department’s hard work, the man was arrested and they found 176,000 images of child pornography on his computer that he was also letting children play on. I don’t think I would have got the same response if we didn’t have a local police department.

I want to thank the Baltimore Police Department for all their hard work. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. I do not think a little over $2 a week is too much to ask to keep our community safe. So please vote “yes” for the police levy and help our officers serve and protect Baltimore.
