Thurman Allen “Buzz” Love

A funeral service for Thurman Allen “Buzz” Love, age 84, of Heath, was held at October 17, 2011, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial took place in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Buzz passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born March 25, 1927 in Monroe Township, Perry County, to the late Allen and Marie (Miller) Love.

Buzz was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a deputy sheriff with the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, serving under Sheriff McElroy. Buzz served as a Licking County Commissioner for a number of years and was a member of the American Legion Post #85, the Druids, VFW, Thornville Am-Vets, Newark Moose, Newark Eagles, Crusader Lodge #720 F & AM, Licking County Shrine Club, Newark Maennerchor, Teheran Grotto and the Old Timers Association. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathie (Ralph) Crawmer of Newark and Tamara Love of Buckeye Lake; grandchildren, Jackie, Janet, Bryan and Jeremy Crawmer and Joshua Love; great-grandchildren, Jason Myers, Hailey Thompson, Joshua Love, Jr. and Payton Love; and special friend, Ilene DeVault.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Marjorie E. (Powell) Love, who died July 8, 2000; by a son, Bruce Allen Love, who died September 5, 2006; and by four sisters.
