The full, adventurous and vibrant life of Brenda Halifax, age 55 of Thornville, ended unexpectedly on September 27, 2011, after she suffered a stroke in the Russian home she shared with her life partner, soul mate, and best friend, Robert Halifax.
Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Robert Halifax; her children, Melanie Cabaj, Daniel Halifax, Aaron (Reagan) Halifax, John Halifax and Amanda (Russ) Roley; her grandchildren, Alysha, Thomas, Sarah, Alexis, Aubrey, Joel, Ryanne, Reagan, Jerry and Libby; her mother, Carol Contratto; her brothers, Tony Kintgen, Bob (Karen) Kintgen and Joe Kintgen; her sister, Lisa (Curtis) Spikburg and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Kintgen.
Brenda had the heart of a saint, the soul of a romantic, and the passion of a poet. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart in November of 1972, and shortly thereafter started a family and moved to Germany. For her, this marked the beginning of her two lifelong passions; family and travel. Whether it was an actual relative or just an honorary Halifax, Brenda loved getting together with her children and grandchildren as often as possible. A gracious host and a remarkable cook, Brenda loved to entertain, whether it be around a Christmas tree, on a sandy beach, or in a tent in the backyard. She was great at finding humor in the moment, even if that meant she was laughing at herself. The resulting smile could light up a room and melt your heart.
Amidst the stresses of life and adventures of world travel, Brenda took time to appreciate the simple things in life: the sunset on an autumn day, the fresh smell of her beautiful lilacs, or the refreshing crisp bite of a fine white wine. She didn’t sing in the shower; she danced in the rain. And she danced the same as she lived her life, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, but always close to the ones she loved, and always with a smile on her face.
Brenda life and spirt was celebrated on Oct. 8, 2011 at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, Newark. Father Bob Penhallurick officiated the service. The Halifax family request that all guestbook condolences be signed at www.brucker-kishlerfuneralhome.com and click obituaries/guestbook entry.
