Buckeye Lake VFW adding cannon to memorial

By Scott Rawdon

BUCKEYE LAKE – VFW Post 1388 Trustee John Stoner said the post would receive a Vietnam War era Howitzer cannon Saturday. He expects it to be delivered around 1 or 2 p.m.

“This has been a two year project,” he said. Stoner said Kenny’s Auto Body in Millersport would transport the cannon from its current location in Zanesville.

He added that Post 1388 has invested much time and resources into its elaborate veterans’ memorial and it’s been a shame that it has lacked any pieces of historic military weaponry or equipment, at least until now. Stoner said the Howitzer will be serviced once it arrives and dedicated later when that process is complete.
