It’s time for the Sweet Corn Festival 5K


The 2011 Sweet Corn Festival Queen’s Pageant will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Brookover-Harlow Pavilion. A panel of judges will select the new Queen and court from representatives from 17 Central Ohio high schools. Courtesy photo. MILLERSPORT - The 22nd running of the Sweet Corn Festival 5K run/walk returns Saturday, Sept. 3. Runners and walkers head out at 9 a.m. from the Sweet Festival grounds. The start line is also the finish line.

Early registration is $15 with race day registration increasing to $20. Registration forms are available at www.sweetcornfest.com or from race director Ken Keener at 740-246-6101. Race day registration begins at 7:15 a.m. The first 350 registrants receive t-shirts.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers - male and female - in the following age groups: 1-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16- 17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55- 59, 60-69 and 70+. There will also be a trophy award for the top male and female Masters runner.

Proceeds benefit the Millersport High School cross country and track teams. Participants may park free on the Sweet Corn Festival grounds - a $10 value. For more information or to volunteer at the race, call Keener at 740- 246-6101.
