Stone Parker, age 69, of Thornville, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 11, 2011. Stone was born August 26, 1941, in Iowa City to the late Dr. Dean Parker and Frances (Stotts) Parker. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Central Washington State College and a master’s in mathematics from Ohio University.
Stone served in the United States Army beginning in 1964 and was discharged in 1981 from the Chemical Corps, USAR. He was a teacher, engineer, chemist and mathematician, having worked over the course of his life for Boeing in Seattle, WA; Fiberglass Owens Corning in Redwood City, CA; Mid East Career and Technology Center in OH and the Central Ohio Technical College.
Stone was a former officer of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club where he taught sailing, a passion he developed while living in Seattle, WA.. Those who knew Stone, knew that he was a devout student of God’s Word and tried to live it in his daily life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna (Dickover) Parker; children, Stone Raney Parker, Chris (Brad) Jones, Connie (John) Loudermilk, Cathy (Brad) Byrd, Jim (Cindy) Wright and Kelly Swick; grandchildren, Amanda, Striker, Crystal, Natalie, Bradley, Carl, Brian and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Nathan, Zachary and Katelyn; brother, Bruce (Vicky) Parker; sister, Nancy Reid; brother-in-law, Wesley Dickover (Phyllis Klopp) and sister-in-law, Bert Dickover. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, MacKenzie Parker; and brothers-in-law, John Reid and Warren Dickover.
Per Stone’s wishes, a memorial service was held at his home on August 14, 2011. Arrangements were entrusted to Boring-Sheridan- Schoedinger Funeral Home.
