Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Art Show— Greenery and Scenery, Aug. 13 – 28. “Greenery and Scenery” is the theme of the annual Arboretum and Licking County Arts annual art show. The show features artists from all over central Ohio. Works can include media such as watercolor, oil paint, fabric art, photography, sculpture and more. Music in the Garden for Kids!—Radio Disney, Saturday, Aug. 20, noon – 2 p.m. This music program is especially for kids! Singer Bob Piacsek entertains children of all ages with his covers of Radio Disney tunes. Enjoy the music as well as wagon rides, ice cream, and educational games! Queen of the Lake II cruises - North Shore boat ramp, Buckeye Lake. Take a relaxing cruise on beautiful and historic Buckeye Lake at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through October. $10 per person with children 5 and under, free. For more information visit buckeyelakehistory.org

Classic Boat Regatta - Buckeye Lake. Celebrate boating at the 32nd Annual Buckeye Lake Yacht Club Classic Boat Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 20. It’s FREE and open to the public with boat displays by local marinas and a boat auction from 3-5 p.m. Outdoor bar and grill will be open.

Huge Yard Sale- Hebron. Multi-family sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, at The Mantonya Chiropractic Cetners, 149 North High Street. Lots of yard sale bargains plus FREE carnival games, prizes and popcorn. Table sales benefit the Buckeye Lake Library.

Longaberger Homestead Music & Food Festival - Frazeysburg. Bands covering a variety of musical genres, and several chefs will prepare a wide assortment of dishes at the Longaberger Music & Food Festival, August 19-20. Marilou Suszko, the featured food writer for the Our Ohio Magazine, will share delicious recipes highlighting Ohio-grown ingredients on Friday. Bill Bird, corporate chef for Zandex Health Care, will prepare guests for game day with tailgating recipes that include pregame, game time and post-game meals on Saturday. Musical acts include The Lee Gantt Band, Timothy Paul & The Current, and Feedback featuring Isis Yasmeen on Friday. Saturday’s performers will be Jim McCutcheon, Flashback and Lt. Dan’s New Legs. Additional highlights include the Ultimate Tailgating Prize Package Drawing, valued at nearly $2,000 in prizes. Visitors also will enjoy sale items, a farmer’s market, an opportunity to have Longaberger family members sign baskets and door prizes. Event and drawings are free. Take the Lake - 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament - Buckeye Lake. New Life Pentecostal Church is hosting a 3-on-3 basket tournament on Saturday, August 27, at Ryan-Braden Park in Buckeye Lake. Registration is $60 per team and is due August 20. You can register in person from 4 - 10 p.m., Monday thru Saturday, at the New Life Cafe, 10944 Heron Road, Buckeye Lake. Cruisin’ on the Commons - Millersport. Come out to the Sweet Corn Festival grounds from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 19, for the final Cruisin’ on the Commons Car Show this summer. Cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. Registration is $5 from 5-7 p.m. Door prizes, 50/50 and trivia games. Hosted by the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival Committee.

65th Annual Sweet Corn Festival - Millersport. The Millersport Lions Club presents the 65th Annual Sweet Corn Festival August 31 thru September 3. The Grand Parade starting at 6 p.m. kicks off the festivities. Entertainment features national recording stars Joe Diffie at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2 and John Michael Montgomery at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3. More rides have been added to the Midway this year plus lots of great food from local non-profit organizations. Entertainment nightly plus corn eating contests and antique tractor pulls. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day - Fairfield County Fairgrounds, Lancaster. Here’s an opportunity from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 20, for residents of Coshocton, Fairfield, Licking and Perry counties to properly dispose waste labeled flammable, corrosive, reactive, toxic or poisonous typically found in your garage, basement, under sinks and in bathrooms. DO NOT BRING empty containers. Please read the following restrictions closely: No business or industry waste will be accepted; no tire or appliances will be accepted; and NO PAINT will be accepted. Once paint is solidified, it is no longer harmful and can be placed in your regular trash pickup. Sand, kitty litter, sawdust and commercial paint hardener can be used. Sherman Cannon - Buckeye Lake Marina/Weldon’s Ice Cream, Millersport. The recently restored Sherman Cannon will be at Buckeye Lake Marina/Weldon’s Ice Cream from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 20. The cannon was given to Lancaster’s Civil War veterans in 1882 at the behest of Lancaster native General William Tecumseh Sherman after he had received a request for a “proper cannon” from the Ben Butterfield post of the Grand Army of the Republic. A new carriage and wheels were manufactured this year to original specifications, returning it to blank-firing condition. The first firing after refurbishment was July 4. The cannon’s regular home is on Lancaster’s Public Square.

Dog Paddle 2011 - Heath Water Park, Heath. How about a summer swim for your pooch? Plan to bring your four-legged friend to the Heath City Water Park from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 21. The Licking County Animal Shelter’s Spay and Neuter Fund will benefit from the proceeds of this event. The cost is $8 per dog in advance or $10 at the door. Two people will be admitted free with each paid dog admission. Children under 12-years of age are admitted free with an adult. Music In The Garden— Deighton Charlemagne - Jacksontown. Enjoy the fusion of music and nature as The Dawes Arboretum presents a series of performances this summer. Fall Hookahville 2011 - Thornville. Fall Hookahville returns September 2-5 featuring ekoostik hookah, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Little Feat, Perpetual Groove and many more at Legend Valley Music Center in Thornville, just off of I-70.
