Mowery Family needs help

Editor:

I am writing to ask Baltimore area residents to help a community family in need.

There’s an ad, donated by The Beacon, on Page 12. Please take it to Schaffners anytime on Monday, August 1 or Tuesday, August 2 and make a purchase to help the family of Tammy K. Mowery. Schaffners have very generously agreed to donate 10 percent of the total purchase made by anyone presenting the ad or a similar flyer.

Tammy K. Mowery, a 45 year-old mother, recently lost her battle in a long fight against malnutrition and depression. For the past five years, Tammy spent a good 10 months out of 12 in hospitals. The family has sustained a mountain of medical bills and we are organizing fundraisers to help offset the cost of her medical bills and funeral expenses.

Tammy Mowery was the loving wife of Chris Mowery and mother to Tara Mowery Blanton, Samantha Mowery and Autumn Mowery. She and Chris graduated from Liberty Union in 1984 and their children attend or have graduated from Liberty Union.

Tammy was a cheerleader in high school and continued to coach cheerleading in the Liberty Union PeeWee Football Association for a number of years. Chris played baseball and football at LU and has been active in the community, coaching with Baltimore Youth Baseball Association, Baltimore Youth Softball, high school softball, travel softball, umpiring peewee football, etc.

Tara Mowery Blanton graduated from Liberty Union in 2007 and is married to Robert Blanton with three children. Samantha graduated from LU this year and is headed to Akron University. Autumn will be a sophomore at LU.

This family has suffered a great loss for a long period of time, but would give any kid the shirt off their back. As a community, we would like to return this favor. Any help you can provide would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
