Some BLASST thanks

Editor:

This year like every year I had about 40 BLASST hats waiting to be signed out at The Beacon for those of you who have parties at your homes. Three families signed out a hat and one family picked up one from me like they do every year. I want to thank Diane White who collected $26, not including her personal donation. I want to thank Jenny Quiggley who collected $43.73 including her donation. I haven’t heard yet from my friend, Kyle Steinwender. Thanks to all three of you for your community service. BLASST is totally dependent on volunteers and individual contributions.

I wish I’d seen all 40 hats signed out while I was volunteering, but it didn’t happen. Maybe someone else can be more motivating.

As usual, the Arter/Davis family came through with flying “Red White and Blue” colors or green in this case. Pat collected twice. She collected up and down North Bank about a week or two before the 1st of July. Also Ralph or Pat collected again the night of BLASST - both at their own party and along North Bank. Their efforts brought in $424.65 for BLASST.

I tried to get Ralph to volunteer his time for BLASST, but the Lions and American Legion got to him way before I asked. They are two lucky groups. I also got a very warm and wonderful email from Pat’s brother, Bob thanking me for my years with BLASST. Bob, your note meant the world to me. I love this family. Thank you all. I’m happy to know you.

I was proud, on behave of BLASST, to donate $850 to the Buckeye Lake Carp Fest that took place last weekend. Although we don’t have a problem now, it is important for us to take care of our lake for the future. We cannot leave that just to ODNR. If you don’t know about Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow, I encourage you to educate yourself by visiting their website at www.buckeyelakefortomorrow.org and then become a member. We all need to do our part to maintain and improve Buckeye Lake’s water quality.
