Boat parade thanks

I am most thankful and appreciative of all the people who have made the 4th of July Boat Parade a success.

Howard Everett played the National Anthem with such feeling and passion. Thanks to Buckeye Lake VFW Post 1388 Color Guard for raising the flag and the gun salute.

Merv Bartholow was this year’s Grand Marshal. He turns up in volunteer roles all around the lake. Merv served as president of the Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association for eight years. During that tenure as president, he became one of the founding directors of Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow (BLT) and currently serves as president.

.I would like to say thank you to the 23 boats that took the time to be part of the parade. I want to also thank the HUNDREDS of people along the shore, in the parks and at the yacht club for your cheers and waves. It makes us all feel like family.

The entire circuit takes about two hours to complete. I know it took a BIG effort for everyone this year with the Celebration of our Independence this year being a four day event, starting with the spectacular BLASST fireworks display on Friday night. I am always amazed at all the boat and auto traffic for BLASST. It can take a lot of time to clear, but thanks to everyone’s patience, things went pretty well. Many people had large parties all weekend long around the lake. May you all have a great year and hopefully we can do it all over again next year.
