John F. Welsh
A funeral service, celebrating the life of John F. Welsh, 81, of Granville, was held May 30, 2011, in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor M. Stephen Merold as celebrant. Burial followed at Kirkersville Cemetery.
John died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at his home from injuries he received in an accident. He was born in Granville, on November 15, 1929, the son of the late John and Grace (Baker) Welsh. He was a graduate of Kirkersville High School, Class of 1947, and served honorably in the US Army in Korea. He retired from Ashland Oil at Heath, and was a life-long farmer. He enjoyed farming, journaling his life experiences, friends and family. He was described as a “jokester”. He was also an active member of the Outville Presbyterian Church, as well as the Granville Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, the former Phyllis Warner, whom he married on Oct. 15, 1952; his sons, Jay (Karen Streib) of Pataskala, and Mark of Granville; his grandchildren, Brandy, Leslie, Josh, John, Kelsey, Samantha & Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Abby and Alex; and his church family at Outville Presbyterian.
