A funeral service for Clyde Peake, 91 of Thornville, will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens, with the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance providing mili- tary honors.
Clyde was born in Franklin County, Ohio, on November 17, 1919, to the late William L. and Florence L. (Huene) Peake. He passed away on May 7, 2011, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.
Clyde proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to retirement, he worked as a construction worker, bus and truck driver and a security guard. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and listening to classic rock and country music. Clyde also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ruth M. (Poling) Peake, whom he married on May 25, 1970; children, Lawrence Peake, Patricia Wood, Gary Peake, Diana Sue (Tom) Taylor, Claudia Evans and Trena (Fred) Fritsche; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Beth; great grandson, Ben; three brothers; and two sisters.
