E. Gail Baughman

A funeral service for E. Gail Baughman, age 86, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Ed Lopeman officiating. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance and the Hebron American Legion. Mr. Baughman passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, at Chapel Grove in Heath. He was born August 26, 1924, in Newark, to the late Alva Howard and Emma G. (Stasel) Baughman.

Mr. Baughman was a farmer in Hebron until 1959. He then began a career with Flo-lizer in Hebron, retiring as manager after 28 years, after which he returned to farming. Mr. Baughman was a veteran of the United States Army and was a life-member of the American Legion Post 285 in Hebron. He was also a member of the Highwater Church of Christ, the Druids and was a life-member of the Madison Grange. He was also a life-member of the VFW and a member for over 50 years of the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by four children, Linda (Ron) Mash of Johnstown, Phil Baughman of Hebron, Pam (Jim) Good of Pickerington and Mark (Robin) Baughman of Newark; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Simross and Malvina Ooms; many nieces and nephews; and loving companion, Eileen Preston.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; sisters, Bessie Harris, Mildred Ashcraft, Mary Pound and Geneva Gienger; and brothers, Dale, Charles and Raymond.
