Kenneth Howard Harper

Kenneth Howard Harper, 95, of Avondale, died February 20, 2011, at Adams Lane Care Center.

He was born on April 15, 1915, near Buck Run, Morgan County, Ohio. He was the son of the late William Okley and Lida Mable Roberts Harper.

He was a World War II Army veteran. He worked for the Jones Coal Co., Misco Mine, Romine Construction Co. and C.W. Taylor & Son Construction Co. He also farmed and was a member of South Zanesville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Carol Harper and David and Laura Harper; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cecile and Paul Pletcher, Sharon Harper, and Betty Ehrenberg; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice M. Crawford Harper; daughter, Patricia Ann Harper Lee; sister, Beatrice Short; brothers, Gale Harper, William Harper, Dana Harper, Cecil Harper, and Gene Harper; one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Dr., White Cottage, with Rev. Joy French officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to thank his caregivers at Adams Lane Care Center, Genesis Hospice, and Dr. Paul Mumma for all their kindness and wonderful care for our father. Memorial contributions may be made to South Zanesville United Methodist Church.
