Liberty Union sets kindergarten meeting

BALTIMORE – Liberty Union-Thurston School District has set a meeting for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 for the parents of children who will be entering kindergarten this year. The meeting will be held in the multi-purpose room at the elementary school.

Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before August 1, 2011, to attend school this year. Kindergarten at Liberty Union is all day, every day.

The meeting will orient parents to the kindergarten curriculum and give them information about helping their child become ready for school. Parents should plan to attend this meeting. To help everyone’s participation, we suggest that no children attend this meeting.

Registration runs from March 4 to April 29, at the elementary school office during the regular business hours of 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Registration papers may be mailed to the elementary school office marked “Kindergarten Registration.” Registration forms will be available at the meeting or can be picked up at the elementary office after March 3.

Each new student must have a doctor’s physical before entry to school. For registration, parents should bring the child’s birth certificate; Social Security card; proof of residency such as a utility bill showing name and address, signed rental lease or pay stub with name and address; and custody papers if parents are divorced or separated. Copies can be made at the school.

Call the office at 862-4143 if you need more information.
