Richard Lee Leindecker Sr.

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Richard Lee Leindecker Sr., 75, of Buckeye Lake, was held February 12, 2011, in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Brian Harkness and Jim Matheny as celebrants. Burial with full military honors followed at Hebron Cemetery.

Richard died February 8, 2011, in Columbus, following a brief illness. He was born in Columbus, on December 7, 1935, the son of the late Charles and Blanche (Woolard) Leindecker. He operated his own water well drilling business for many years in the Buckeye Lake area. He was an active member of the Buckeye Lake community, having served for 12 years on the Buckeye Lake Village Council, and was a captain on the Buckeye Lake Village Fire Department. He was instrumental in improving the quality of police and fire services in Buckeye Lake Village.

He was also a member of the Early V-8 Ford Club.

He is survived by his loving family: his son, Richard L. Leindecker, Jr. (Renee) of Buckeye Lake; his daughter, Lori (Rob) Moran of Thurston; his sister, Virginia Spivey of Hebron; his grandchildren, Ashley, Tara, Caity, Scott, Cory, Devin and Jacob; and his great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Gracie.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara on April 14, 2004; four sisters, Catherine McElroy, Jane Biddle, Lela Peltier and Mary Clark; and his five brothers, Harold, Bob, Bill and Jim Schoop and Chuck Leindecker.
