Firefighters honor Dick Leindecker


Photos courtesy of Andrea & Frank Foster Photos courtesy of Andrea & Frank Foster KIRKERSVILLE – The Buckeye Lake Firefighters Association and area fire departments honored department co-founder Capt. Dick Leindecker with a firefighters funeral Sunday.

Leindecker’s casket was transported from the Hoskinson Funeral Home in Kirkersville to Hebron Cemetery on top of a Buckeye Lake fire engine. Buckeye Lake’s squad lead the procession. The funeral procession which included fire and medic units from area departments passed under an arch formed by two aerial trucks en route to the cemetery.

Leindecker and the late Ronnie Colley founded Buckeye Lake Village’s first publicly owned fire department. His son, Pete Leindecker, is the department’s chief.
