Thanks to Community Christmas Celebration donors
It was an absolutely beautiful day at Buckeye Lake on Dec 11. We had several hundred kids and their parents at our 6th Annual Community Christmas Celebration. Council member Kaye Hartman, Mayor Rick Baker and family manned the Salvation Army canteen, handing out hundreds of free hot dogs, home baked cookies and several gallons of free hot cocoa, lemonade and Caribou Coffee to everyone.
Our volunteer army was there to set up tents, tables, gifts, coats, hats, gloves, food, fire, etc. We had volunteers handing out coats, assisting Santa and his Elf, handing out gifts, manning the coloring table and games.
The coat tent opened up for business distributing over 400 free coats, hats and gloves to anyone who needed them. Santa arrived just in time, thanks to the Buckeye Lake Fire Department who came in with horns blowing and children screaming and waving their hands. Everyone kept warm by the bonfire laughing and talking.
Door prizes were given away all day long. The most popular being two fully loaded Christmas trees won by Carrie Hull and Shawn Dugan and Kathy Jefferies.
And best of all, there were hundreds of smiling faces - some covered with catsup and mustard! No one left without a gift or a coat. No one left hungry and everyone enjoyed another beautiful day at our Buckeye Lake!
A special thank you to all our sponsors. Your contributions of all kinds enabled the committee to provide such a wonderful Christmas gathering.
To all of those people who were taking pictures please send copies to me at BLCCC865@gmail.com or take them to the museum so we can post some on the website!
