Thurrel Henry Thompson
A funeral service, celebrating the life of Thurrel Henry Thompson, age 91, who passed away on December 24, 2010, at home surrounded by his family, was held December 28, 2010, in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Brian Harkness as celebrant. Burial with full military honors followed at Kirkersville Cemetery.
Born to William T. and Mildred L. (Flood) Thompson at Lancaster; he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Margaret (Don) Ryan and Mary Jane Thompson.
He was a graduate of Liberty- Union High School, Class of 1937, and attended classes at the Ohio State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was proud to have served under Gen. Patton in the Battle of the Bulge and is a member of V.F.W. Post 3761, Baltimore.
Retired from Nabisco after 37 years, he has resided in Whitehall since 1950 where he is a member of Whitehall Senior Citizens. He also enjoyed serving as Little League coach, Cub Scout leader and serving as Sunday school superintendent at Eastview United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Clare (Shetrone) Thompson; and three sons, Rodney Thompson, D. Craig (Jo) Thompson and Allyn ( Nan) Thompson; grandchildren, Sarah and Zachary Thompson.
