A funeral service for Joan Neighbarger, 72, of Thornville, was held December 31, 2010, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial followed in Hanover Cemetery.
Joan, a retired nursing assistant for Arlington Care Center, passed away December 27, 2010, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. She was born April 18, 1938, in Lucasville, Ohio, to the late Oakley and Ella (Jenkins) Montgomery.
She is survived by her sisters, Freda Blevins of Thornville and Octavia Angle of Hanover; brothers, Cliffton Montgomery of Thornville, Merle (Marlene) Montgomery and Monroe (Eula) Montgomery both of Lucasville, and Charles (Frances) Montgomery of Hanover; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Neighbarger; brothers, Julius Montgomery and Vernon Montgomery; sisters, Darlene Montgomery and Vivian Montgomery, and still born baby Montgomery.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kay (Sam) Knecht of Lancaster; granddaughter, Stacy (Christopher) Moss of Columbus; great grandson, Cody Moss of Columbus; brother, Marty (Patricia) Broyles of Lancaster; sisters, Betty Wade of Lancaster and Mary Clum of Baltimore; brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw, Richard Ruckman of Thurston, Louella and Floyd Baughman of Baltimore, Pat Heistand of Lancaster, and Carol and Robert Vanvelzor of Thurston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Ruckman; son, William E. Ruckman; infant daughter; parents, Harry and Annabel Broyles; brother, Bruce Broyles; and two sisters, Norma Ruffner and Nancy Reynolds.
