George E. West, Sr.

George E. West, Sr., 74, of Pleasantville, died December 26, 2010 at his residence.

He was a milkman for Deeds Dairy for 25 years and later was a milkman for his own business of West Dairyland Foods for a total of 45 years of service. He was a member of Pleasantville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Florence West; seven sons, George (Peggy) West, Jr. of Redmond, WA, Rodney (Norma) West of Toronto, Ohio, Barry (Colleen) West of Bremen, Jay T. West of W. Rushville, Patrick (Nikki) West of Carroll, Chad (Stephanie) West of Pleasantville, and Tim West of Bremen; five daughters, Lori (Ed) Smith of Lancaster, Debbie (Damian) Schmelzer of Baltimore, Holly (Roger) Cade of Hicksville, Ohio, Kim (Gary) Haney of Baltimore, and Rachel (Jason) Thomas of Millersport; 33 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two brothers, Elmer West of Amanda, and Gary (Betty) West of Pleasantville; two sisters, Helen Dickson of Columbus, and Florence (Richard) Miller of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Dickson and son-in-law, Jeff Dickson; daughter-in-law, Sherri West; two grandsons, Adam West and Jay West, Jr.; parents, Mack and Anna West; two brothers, Mack Eugene West and Galen West; and sister, Mary Woodgeard.

Funeral service was held December 30, 2010, in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Pastor Gerri Lampton officiating. Burial followed in Hampson Cemetery.
