Ihla Rose Loudermilk

Ihla Rose Loudermilk, 91, of Millersport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 15, 2010. She was living with her son, Jim and daughter-inlaw, Rose in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. After an unexpected fall of which she could not recover, she passed peacefully at Hope Hospice of HealthPark with her daughter, Jenny at her side. Ihla was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She had an enduring love for her family and friends. A woman of great faith, she appreciated her life, enjoying the good times and accepting tragic losses with sadness, grace and amazing Ihla Rose was born to Harry and Martha Stanley on July 30, 1919.

She married the love of her life, Bob (ROL) Loudermilk, October 10, 1936, in Circleville. They had five children and were ultimately responsible for originating life for 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was allowed to know that she left a legacy of love for forty-three family members. Her last great joy was to know that Faith Elisabeth was born on November 21st.

Ihla was co-owner of Loudermilk Refrigeration; Past Matron of Triangle Chapter No. 592 Order of the Eastern Star, Columbus; a 50 year member of the L.O.S.N.A. Thea Ct. #5; and a long time member of the Millersport Lioness Club. Throughout her life she served the Lord, belonging to the Linden Methodist Church, Millersport Methodist Church and the First Community Church at Buckeye Lake. She enjoyed her friends and family. She would send a special farewell to her oldest and dear friend, Evelyn (Tiny) Eckert; dear sister-in-law, Kate Loudermilk; and her dear brother-in-law, Gerald Loudermilk. She loved her dogs - past and present. Joy and Zoey were her comfort in her later years and loved her greatly. Ihla was an avid card player, especially good at bridge. Always a sharp mind and a very good sport, she did enjoy winning. She loved Buckeye Lake and Florida. Her favorite memories were outdoor activities with her husband and family, fishing, boating, and even hunting. She enjoyed crafting and made beautiful keepsakes that we will always cherish.

Ihla was preceded in death by Robert Loudermilk, her loving husband of 42 years; her daughters Carolyn Loudermilk and Bobbie Gorsuch; her son, Jack Loudermilk; her granddaughter, Erika Loudermilk; her grandson, Matt Gorsuch; her great grandson, Brian Gorsuch; her sisters, Clara Pendleton and Mary Witham; and her parents.

Ihla is survived by son, James (Rose) Loudermilk; daughter, Jenny (Bob) Tanton; daughter-inlaw, Ronda Loudermilk; grandsons, Mike, Rusty (Eva), Mitch (Renee) Gorsuch, Jason (Jessica) Tanton and Jesse Loudermilk; granddaughters, Melissa (Steve) Lewis, Michelle (Mark) Kirkpatrick, Natalie (Jim) Rowe and Christian (John-Mark) Kennedy; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and many extended family.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 East Main St. Kirkersville. Her Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Burd of the Vineyard Christian Church of Pataskala presiding.
