Harry Lee Hoover
Harry Lee Hoover, 80, of Glenford, died December 13, 2010, at the OSU Medical Center.
Harry was born March 20, 1930 in Glenford, the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Clara Leota Ridenour Hoover.
He was a 1948 graduate of Glenford High School. Harry received a Bachelor Degree in History from Manchester University and taught in the Urbana area where he was also a bus driver, coach, and principal. He later taught History in the Northern Local School District for over 30 years. He was a member of Olivet Church of the Brethren where he taught Sunday School and served on various committees. He was also a member of the Perry County Gideons, and the Perry County Retired Teachers Association. Harry was an avid fisherman and loved taking trips to Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joanne M. Sessum Hoover, whom he married March 5, 1965; three daughters and one son, Andrea (John) Osbon of Boston, MA, Terri Hoover Huntington of Croton on Hudson, NY, Joe (Sylvia) Halderman of Norwalk, CT, and Gwen Fowler of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; and a twin sister, Mary Lou Arbaugh of Somerset.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Hoover; two sisters, Zelma Emerick, and Dorothy Lattimer; and a nephew, Craig Hoover.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Olivet Church of the Brethren with Pastor David Helser officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Glenford.
