MILLERSPORT – Santa’s a popular man in Millersport, Ohio! Roughly 160 children lined up to tell the Jolly One their holiday wishes following the annual Millersport Christmas Parade Dec. 4. “It all turned out real well,” said parade founder Jeff Watson. He said having Santa set up shop in the warm Millersport Fire Station instead of the cold, blustery outdoors—in years past, children met Santa in a tent on the Watson Oil Company’s parking lot— boosted the number of visitors. “Going to the firehouse was wonderful,” said Watson.
The parade also enjoyed a strong attendance as onlookers braved a chilly Saturday with very light snow. Watson said the parade technically began nine years ago when Watson invited Santa to meet children at his business. Later Santa was chauffeured to Watson’s in a wagon, then Olde Canal Restaurant owner Faye Whitaker joined in. “It grew from there,” said Watson.
