Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Luminary Tour- Friday, Dec. 3, 5:30 – 8 p.m.,.The Dawes Arboretum brings you an evening of illumination with 1,500 candle luminaries lining the North End Auto Tour. Join us inside the Visitors Center after the drive for a cup of hot cocoa, a holiday treat and some activities for the whole family. Please bring a non–perishable food or monetary donation for the Licking County Food Pantry. Free, Visitors Center and North Loop Auto Tour.

Tree Dedication- Join us for a special tree dedication by Governor Ted Strickland on December 8, 2010 at 1 p.m. Hear from our Board of Trustees, Director of Horticulture, Executive Director and Governor Strickland himself during this memorable ceremony. The tradition first began after Beman Dawes was inspired by the sight of a century-old tree at a country estate in England to commemorate the allied victory at the Battle of Waterloo. Since 1927, there have been 102 tree dedications at The Arboretum. Tree dedicators at Dawes are chosen by The Arboretum Board of Trustees to honor individuals or groups with outstanding achievement in the stream of human history or events of significance to The Arboretum. Notable dedicators have included: Colonel John H. Glenn Jr., Jesse Owens, Jack Hanna and Orville Wright. A bronze plaque located at the base of the selected tree shows dedicated to, dedicated by and accomplishments.

The grounds are open from dawn to dusk. The Visitors Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Call 740-323-2355 or 800-44-DAWES for information or visit www.dawesarb.org.

Millersport Christmas Parade - Millersport. The 10th annual steps off from the high school at noon heading down Lancaster Street to the fire station. The Marching Lakers will escort Santa to the fire station for his visit.

Which eReader? - Newark. Licking County Library is offering a workshop on eReader devices on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 2 pm in the Newark Library. This workshop will include information about eBooks, eReaders and a short demonstration about downloading eBooks from the library’s website. CCAD Art Sale - Columbus. Here’s your chance to purchase great art from artists on the rise. Sale is Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Loann Crane Center for Design. $50 First Choice Admission starts at 9 a.m. $5 General Admission runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All admission proceeds fund student scholarship. Cookie Walk - Lancaster. FairHoPe Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc is excited to announce their 11th Annual Cookie Walk being held on Saturday, December 4, 2010, from 8 a.m. - noon. The event will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church, 134 N Broad St, across the street from Shaw’s in downtown Lancaster. Thousands of cookies, and an assortment of baked goods, will be prepared by FairHoPe volunteers for the event. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Hospice Memorial Fund, which supports terminally ill patients and their families. Come early for the best selection. .

The Steppin Generals 4th Annual Stomp Out Hunger - Thornville. Help the Steppin’ Generals stomp out hunger. Join them for a spirited performance from 4 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5 at Sheridan High School. Admission is free with non-perishable food item. Donations will benefit the Northern Local School District, Somerset, Glenford and Thornville food pantries. Help your neighbors and support your community and have fun while doing it. A community dance follows the Steppin’ Generals performance. If you are a dance team or step team and would like to perform we would love to have you. Contact us on FaceBook under Steppin Generals.

Holiday Toy Drive & Chicken Dinner - Millersport. Join the Millersport Volunteer Firefighter Association in helping make dreams come true this Christmas. Enjoy a grilled chicken dinner from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4,. in the Millersport fire station. Donate toys or make monetary donations from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 27 and Dec. 18. Donations may also be dropped off 24 hours a day at either the Millersport or Fairfield Beach fire stations.

Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour - Granville. This 25th annual Candlelight Walking Tour features a Living Nativity and numerous musical performances by church choirs and other musical groups, as well as the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Visit the museums and enjoy an old- fashioned wagon ride downtown and the open houses hosted by various businesses throughout the Township and Village. Night in Bethlehem - Millersport. Come experience the Holy Land at the time of Christ’s birth from 6 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Millersport United Methodist Church. Visit shops, talk with shepherds and the Three Kings and see live animals and a live nativity scene. Everyone is welcome. Free!

Santa Comes to Hebron - Hebron. Santa arrives on a fire truck at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9 at the Hebron Muncipal Complex. There will be refreshments, crafts, goodie bags and storybook reading . Bring your cameras so you can take a picture of your child with Santa. For more information contact the Hebron Library at 928-3923.

Baltimore Lions Club Community Day - Baltimore. Enjoy a free funnel cake courtesy of the Baltimore Lions Club from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Olde Village Pizza, at Market and Main streets. Please bring your donations for the Baltimore Food Pantry. Items needed are: box dinners, canned soup, canned fruit, macaroni, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, pork & beans, flour, sugar, saltine crackers, shortening, catsup, toilet paper, liquid dish soap, shampoo, cake mixes and frosting. Cash donations are also welcome. Drop off used eye glasses for reuse in other countries. Find out about programs available through the Baltimore Lions club including referrals for free eyeglasses and assistance with diabetic supplies.

Outville Christmas Parade - Outville. The 15th annual Outville Christmas parade steps off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, heading north on Outville Road. Parade registration and lineup begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Harrison Township Community Complex located at 6750 Outville Rd. S.W. The parade features motorcycles, antique cars, trucks, tractors, equestrian units, organizations, bands and more! The parade will begin at 3 p.m. leaving from the Harrison Township Community Complex. Immediately following the parade at the Harrison Township Community Complex, there will be entertainment, a goodies auction, and a visit from Santa himself. Refreshments will also be served including cornbread and the renowned Outville ham and bean soup.

Heisey Wind Ensemble Christmas Concert - Newark. The Heisey Wind Ensemble presents their annual holiday program with a concert titled “Christmas at the Reese Center” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, at The Reese Center at Ohio State University Newark/COTC. This will be the groups 100th concert. A capacity crowd is anticipated. Those planning to attend are urged to arrive early. Tickets will be available at the door. Adults are $15, seniors (60+) and students are $10.
