David Charles Little

David Charles Little, 51, of Columbus, formerly of Thornville, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010, at Winchester Place Rehabilitation Center, Canal Winchester.

David was born September 5, 1959, at Lockbourne AFB, to William C. and Sharon A. (Hartley) Little Haffner of Adrian and Hudson, Michigan. He married ValJean Barrett in Dunbar, WV, July 11, 1981.

David retired early from Clark Oil Company, with multiple health issues. He graduated from Whetstone High School, Columbus, in 1977, with concurrent participation in the North High School Electronics Program. David enlisted in the US Army in 1977. Medical criteria forced early separation; he then continued his study of electronics with ITT Technical Institute of Dayton.

In his youth, David was involved with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, junior high baseball and bowling; he was an avid fisherman throughout his life. David was on a Euchre team and loved golf. He always maintained a garden and was equally handy in the kitchen - a great baker and chef.

Surviving David are his dedicated and loving wife of 29 years, ValJean; a son, Michael (Jennifer) of Whitehall; sisters, Carma Burgess (Jerry) of Columbus and Trudy (Brian) Starcher, of Hilliard; brothers, Robert Little (Sherry of Myrtle Beach, SC, Wayne Little (Sherry Pritchard) of Gahanna, Joseph Little (Stephanie) of Millersport, and John Little; step sister, Beth (Patrick Miller) of Bethesda, MD; step brother, Scott Haffner (Kris) of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Kendra Compton, Brian Smith and Rebecca Faith Little; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Charles Little; brother, William James Little; and step father, John Michael Haffner.

A “Celebration of the Life of David Little” was held at the home of his brother, Wayne Little in Gahanna, on Sunday, October 31, 2010.

David always wore a smile; he is greatly missed.
