Genevieve “Jennie” Noll Hannah
Genevieve “Jennie” Noll Hannah, age 90, of Thornville, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010, at Hospice in Licking Memorial Hospital.
Genevieve was born February 24, 1920, in Somerset, the daughter of the late Leonard F. and Genevieve Finnen Noll.
She graduated from Somerset High School in 1938, where she was Secretary/Treasurer of her class. During WWII, Genevieve worked at Standard Piezo Company where she made crystals for walkie talkies. She also worked in the billing department of Owens Corning in Newark and was associated with Hannah Brothers Furniture Store in Shawnee. Genevieve was a member of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary #51 in Thornville, Eagles #2801 in Buckeye Lake, and was a life member of the VFW #1388 in Buckeye Lake.
Genevieve is survived by her loving daughter, Dorothy Ellen Towner of Newark; her sons, Donald Leonard (Amelia) Hannah of New Lexington, and Robert Bruce (Kimberley) Hannah of Shawnee; grandchildren, Theresa (Donald) Halpern of New Albany, Toni (Paul) Taffe of Oakton, Virginia, Donnie Hannah of New Lexington, Lindsey (Dale) Brown of New Straitsville, and Shawn (Christa) Hannah of Shawnee; her greatgrandchildren, Jordan, Ethan, and Morgan Halpern, Katie and Ryan Taffe, and Tessa Brown; sistersin laws, Bernice (Carl) Raymann, June Finck, Delores Hannah and Rita Noll; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Lionel Dennis Hannah; and sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Sweeney, Rosella Hillis, Kathleen O’Hare, Ruth Dickson, Robert Noll, and William Noll.
Her funeral was held October 25, 2010, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Buckeye Lake, with Father William Ferguson officiating. Her burial followed at the Shawnee Cemetery.
