Robert F. Runkel
A funeral service, celebrating the life of Robert F. Runkel, 86, of Millersport, was held October 19, 2010, in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastors Brian Vinson & Steve Bush as celebrants. Burial with full military honors followed in Millersport Cemetery.
Bob went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2010, at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 20, 1924, in Thornville, the son of the late Oscar A. and Helen M. (Murphy) Runkel. He was a graduate of Millersport High School, and retired from Diamond Power in Lancaster after many years of service as a machinist.
Bob served honorably in the US Navy during WWII.
Bob was an active member of the Millersport community, belonging to the Millersport United Methodist Church; Fairfield Beach, Buckeye Lake and Millersport senior citizens; Alturas Lodge #537 F & AM; Advance Lodge #606 IOOF; American Legion #637 of Millersport; and Buckeye Lake VFW #1388.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, whom he married on April 19, 1945; his two daughters, Suzanne (Robert) Hite of Mt. Perry, Patty (Joe) Thomas of Millersport; grandchildren, Kimberly (Hal) Rundell of Mt. Vernon, Jennifer (Terry) Holbrook of Lancaster, Amanda (Aaron) Levacy of Pickerington, Courtney (Dustin) Bidwell and Ashleigh (Joe) Hooker of Millersport; his nine great grandchildren, and many friends.
