Ray F. Kilbarger
A funeral service for Ray F. Kilbarger, 88, of Baltimore, was held October 4, 2010, in the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Baltimore, with Pastor Dale Ann Gray presiding. Interment followed in Basil Memorial Cemetery with the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites.
Ray passed away at home on Thursday, September 30, 2010. He was born on November 4, 1921, to the late Leo and Bertha (Bufore) Kilbarger. He had nine siblings. Ray was a life-long farmer. He was a breeder and showman of Angus cattle and Belgian Draft horses. Ray was a prominent horse judge; a highlight was judging the National Belgian show in Iowa in 1975. He owned Kilbarger Farms with his wife Marilyn (Giesy) Kilbarger. He enjoyed gardening and cooking.
A World War II veteran, Ray proudly served in the Marine Corp. from April 3, 1942-October 2, 1945. He was also a member of the Baltimore VFW Post 3761.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn; daughters, Debbie (Tim) Barnes of Radnor, Ohio and Kathy (Jim) Heimerl of Johnstown; grandchildren, Chad (Molly) Barnes, Shane (Kim) Barnes, Casey (Matt) Van Schoyck, Matt (Rachel) Heimerl, Brad Heimerl and Jeff Heimerl; great-granddaughters, Lauren Heimerl and Madi Van Schoyck; sister, Mary Ann (Rex) Kinser of Lancaster; brother, David (Mary) Kilbarger of Pleasantville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were brothers, Bernard, James, Francis, Carl and Patrick; and sisters, Bertie and Teresa.
