Wilford Eli Greathouse
Wilford Eli Greathouse, age 91, of Thornville, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2010, at Autumn by the Lake, Thornville.
He was born on November 2, 1918, in Zanesville, to the late Walter and Carrie (Boal) Greathouse. Wilford was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 70 years and served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was a lifetime farmer, a member of Perry County Farm Bureau, past supervisor of the Soil & Water Conservation of Perry County, and was a friend of outdoor wlidlife hunters. He received a Governors Award from Governor Jim Rhodes for excellence in farming. Wilford would have been married 70 years to Thelma this coming Christmas Eve. His wife, Thelma Cooperrider Greathouse passed away September 5, 2010.
Wilford is survived by his daughters, Lorraine (Larry) Hiles, Judy (Gary) Green and Linda (Gordon) Patterson; grandchildren, Lynn, Chris, Jon, Josh, Judith, Jennifer, Jamie and Phillip, 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sister, Mary (John) Morrison.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leora Broceus and Helen Hupp; and grandchildren: Lora, Lee Scott, Melissa and Pam.
Funeral service for Mr. and Mrs. Greathouse was held September 8, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Morlock and Reverend Robert Pflueger officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery, Amsterdam.
